Professor of Research Realted to Nursing and Deputy Associate Dean for Research & Honorary Nurse Consulatant

About

I have been the Professor of Nursing Research and Deputy Associate Dean for Research at the University of East Anglia in Norwich since 2008. I am also an Honorary Nurse Consultant with Surrey and Borders NHS Foundation Trust, Adjunct Professor of Mental Health at NUI Galway, Ireland and Visiting Professorial Fellow at the University of Wollongong in Australia. I trained at King’s College as a Mental Health Nurse and at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in Public Health. I was awarded my PhD in 2001 from King’s College London and in the same year I was awarded a prestigious MRC research training fellowship. Until 2008 I was Head of the Section of Mental Health Nursing at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London. I am a Fellow of the European Academy of Nursing Science

I lead a multidisciplinary portfolio of clinical and academic research on patient choice, adherence, co morbidity, nurse prescribing, violence and aggression, depression and mental health in older adults. I have published some interesting papers but most of them are dull and some starkly contradict each other! My current h-index is 12, eight years after my PhD. One of my papers has been cited over 80 times and two over forty.
