Putting the finishing touches to the manuscript for an edited collection, 'Ealing Revisited' - coming to a bookstore near you later this year...

University of East Anglia

Faculty Member, School of Film and Television Studies

About

A member of staff at UEA since 2008, I teach on British cinema, film & media technology, reception studies, film history, film advertising, animation, new media and audiences. I also run the School's MA programmes in Film Studies and Film Archiving.

My current and future research (funded by a small research grant from the British Academy) is on early British 3-D films, elements of which I have recently presented at Warwick and DeMontfort. My book on film trailers ('Coming Soon: Film Trailers and the Selling of Hollywood Technology') came out in October 2009, and the next ('Science Fiction Film: A Critical Introduction') is scheduled for release in 2011.

I previously worked at the University of Kent. I studied at the University of Stirling, University of California Santa Barbara and the University of Kent, where I was awarded my PhD.

Before returning to academia, I was creative writer/producer in the British media industry for eight years (1996-2004), working mainly on trailer advertising for film, television and radio.
