About
I am currently doing a PhD at the faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of East Anglia.
Concurrently, I am part-time Lecturer at Université Paris-Ouest (previously Paris X Nanterre), in UFR LLPhi and UFR Sitec, where I also conduct a distance learning project supervised by the head of Faculty. My teaching currently focuses on new media, Film & Television and sociology, notably through discussing fan communities and their online activities, rendered possible by the advent of the internet and the multimedia in general.
My academic research draws on fields such as social studies, production studies, and television studies. By making sense of an industrial idea of 'success', my thesis intends to discover a new framework of the latter, and thus to offer future academics a new way to talk about the notion of success for television programmes. Furthermore, by outlining the points of agreement and disagreement between the different practitioners interviewed, this thesis intents to find a relevant way to classify these discourses, thereby mapping-out the main currents of thoughts among members of the television industry.
My research interests include audience research, cult/mainstream, fandom, industrial sociology, international distribution, interpretive methodology, organizational research, production research and qualitative interviewing.
In addition to this, I also do independant historical research. Finally, I am a Fellow of the International Napoleonic Society since 2007.
